Some of you may have noticed that for the past few days CPPSHQ has been down.
This was because our host received a DCMA from our favorite company – Disney Online Studios, which caused them to terminate the hosting account which we were on. And yeah, I’m no longer “censoring” or changing anything just to suit their needs.
If you’re not sure what a DCMA is – it’s sort of like a cease and desist, however they are not telling you to shut down your website, they are telling you that they want “their” content off of your website.
From what I can tell, the DCMA looks pretty legit, of course there is a chance that it was faked, but from what I can tell, it wasn’t. Disney’s lawyers basically wanted me to remove all pictures of private servers, all links that link to private servers, and all references of their game name, or their company name.
What’s crazy to me is, they actually send a rightful DCMA – even if I link to private servers, which violate their copyright. That boggles my mind how linking to a private server, could get you a rightful DCMA from a legal firm representing Disney Online Studios.

Good to know. The problem is – now you can never tell when a DCMA or C&D is real or fake…. thanks to the Crocodiles. Who knows what Disney might actually do?! Every private server creator, and maybe even private server blogger, are taking HUGE risks.
Oh, and a DCMA is a Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
